For new candidates, the complete process from registration to final Commission vote usually takes between 12 to 18 months, depending on the completion of the self-study report.
Candidacy indicates an institution satisfies base credentials and is actively progressing toward standard audits. Full accreditation is granted only after a successful self-study, on-site peer audit, and positive vote by the Commission board.

If standards are not maintained, the Commission places the member on **Probationary Status** (as marked on our Registry). A specific timeframe (usually 6 to 12 months) is allotted to rectify errors. Failure to do so leads to immediate revocation of all accreditation rights.
Credit transferability is always determined by the receiving institution. However, accreditation by a recognized commission like Wellingford significantly increases the likelihood of credit acceptance, as it verifies that the sending institution meets high academic quality and curriculum rigor standards.
The Commission reviews formal, written, and signed complaints that allege substantive non-compliance with our Standards for Accreditation. Complaints must be submitted using our official inquiry portal or emailed to complaints@wellingford.us with supporting documentation. The Commission does not intervene in individual grading disputes or student disciplinary cases.
The Wellingford Commission operates as an independent, international accrediting agency. While we maintain alignment with regional and national frameworks such as CHEA (Council for Higher Education Accreditation) guidelines, our primary charter is to provide global institutional evaluations for traditional and online programs.
